The Role:

IonQ is seeking a driven Quantum Sales Executive to lead growth in Germany and the broader European market. As a pivotal member of our cross-functional team, you will have the unique opportunity to drive IonQ's mission of developing the world's most advanced quantum computers. Our cutting-edge technology is designed to tackle some of the most challenging and significant problems facing the world today.

This role sits at the forefront of category creation, bringing IonQ's platform offering (quantum hardware, networking, software, and applications) to hyperscalers, neo-cloud providers, AI labs, HPC centers, and government organizations.

You will operate in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, driving high-value, technically sophisticated deals while helping customers understand and adopt next-generation computing architectures. This is a rare opportunity to shape an entirely new market while delivering meaningful revenue impact.

Responsibilities:

New Market Creation & Strategic Sales

  • Identify, develop, and progress a robust pipeline of commercial and government opportunities for IonQ's innovative products and services.
  • Craft tailored customer proposals that adhere to specific customer and regional requirements, with a particular focus on the DACH countries
  • Act as a category creator, educating customers on the value of quantum
  • acceleration beyond traditional compute (CPU/GPU) paradigms
  • Drive double-digit million-dollar/euro annual bookings
  • Build and own executive relationships with CTOs,, Infrastructure Leaders, and Research Organizations
  • Engage with hyperscalers, neo-cloud providers, AI labs, national labs, and government agencies
  • Negotiate and finalize agreements, fostering long-term business relationships.
  • Position IonQ as a strategic partner in next-generation compute and secure infrastructure

Complex Deal Execution

  • Own the full sales lifecycle:
    • Opportunity identification and qualification
    • Technical discovery and architectural alignment
    • Proposal development (including RFPs and government tenders)
    • Negotiation and contract execution
  • Navigate CAPEX-heavy, multi-year, multi-stakeholder deals ($10M+)
Technical Solution Selling

  • Drive adoption of:
    • Hybrid quantum-classical architectures integrated into AI and HPC environments
    • Quantum networking solutions, including quantum-safe communications (PQC, QKD)
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear business value
Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to deliver successful outcomes
  • Influence internal strategy based on customer needs and market signals
  • Contribute to long-term GTM strategy and future team build-out

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise sales or business development within complex, high-tech environments
  • Proven track record of closing $10M+ deals involving infrastructure, hardware, or advanced technology solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to open new markets and sell emerging technologies
  • Exceptional relationship management and business acumen.
  • A proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in closing complex deals.
  • Experience collaborating with governments, national labs, and tech companies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Existing executive relationships across:
    • Hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI)
    • Neocloud providers (e.g., CoreWeave)
    • AI labs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI)
  • Understanding of:
    • Quantum computing fundamentals (QAOA, VQE, etc.)
    • AI scaling challenges and infrastructure bottlenecks
    • Quantum-safe networking (PQC, QKD)
  • Experience selling to government, defense, or national research organizations
  • STEM background (Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Math)
  • Fluency in German and familiarity with DACH markets

The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.

Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
