Job Description

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing our manufacturing processes in China. This position is responsible for the design, development, and management of the manufacturing processes that are necessary to make AESI energy storage meet cost, schedule, and quality targets. This position is empowered to drive China manufacturing initiatives that improve the overall product cost, quality, service customer experience

The position is expected to work in close collaboration with China Quality Assurance, Supply Chain and Contract Manufacturer. This position reports to the Sourcing Manager, China.

Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing Strategy: Develop and implement manufacturing strategies aligned with company goals, focusing on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and scalability. This position will represent AESI in the contract manufacturers facility for new product introduction and released product manufacturing.
  • Process Optimization: Lead efforts to optimize manufacturing processes to improve yield, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste. Implement Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies where applicable.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth NPI processes from design transfer to full-scale production. Ensure manufacturability, scalability, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Manufacturing Readiness and Capacity Planning: Assess manufacturing readiness for new products and existing processes. Develop and implement capacity planning strategies to meet production demands effectively.
  • Quality Assurance: Work closely with product quality assurance manager to establish and maintain rigorous quality control standards. Implement corrective actions and preventive measures to address quality issues.
  • Cost Management: Drive cost reduction initiatives through process improvements, value engineering, and supplier negotiations. Monitor manufacturing costs and implement strategies to enhance profitability.
  • Health, Safety, and Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in contract manufacturing operations. Implement best practices to maintain a safe and sustainable work environment.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations teams to address manufacturing issues and drive collaborative solutions.
  • Leadership: Partner with global team and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations.
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Master’s degree in a technical or industry engineering field preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in product development industry or research and development industry.
  • Clear written and verbal communication in English is mandatory.
  • Adept in data processing, statistical analysis, and various troubleshooting methods.
  • Effective communicator, capable of concisely presenting highly technical test data to internal and external customers, as well as effectively communicating with suppliers.
  • Experienced with the handling of high voltage lithium-ion battery systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality systems certification (ISO, TS, UL) and Manufacturing systems (ERP/MES).
  • Familiar with the product design process.
  • Self-motivated problem solver; pays attention to the details.
  • Abides by safety standards and protocols.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 25%.

  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
  • May be required to travel to and navigate a variety of sites to fully understand material needs.
