Overview
About the Team:
Joby’s Infrastructure team is a diverse group of aviation architects, planners, engineers, and builders delivering the vertiports and infrastructure that turn our aircraft into a safe, scalable, world-class service. We are seeking a Senior Manager in Florida to lead infrastructure development across the region. Working closely with our business development and operations teams, you’ll launch the best possible landing locations that meet the technical, operational and passenger experience demands for our future air taxi service.
About the Role:
This role will oversee all aspects of infrastructure development, including site reviews, network planning, vertiport design, permitting and construction. The position will help drive infrastructure decision-making in Florida, while aligning with global standards and teams. You will work closely with our global operations and product teams to understand their needs and refine our infrastructure requirements to ensure we provide a best-in-class passenger experience while maintaining a hardnosed approach towards developing cost effective infrastructure. You’ll be the face of Joby Infrastructure for the region, engaging with external partners and regulators to build relationships and provide technical context for how our service can integrate safely and quietly within the existing urban environment. You will work closely with Joby’s senior leadership team to strategically plan and execute the development and expansion of infrastructure for the region.
Responsibilities
- Support and develop strong relationships with Joby’s infrastructure partners
- Visit new potential sites, evaluate options for aircraft landing locations, and drive owners/partners towards the best solution for each site
- Evaluate layout concepts, passenger flow, and approach & departure paths for vertiports, ensuring infrastructure partners make informed decisions to best serve Joby customers
- Refine and maintain infrastructure assumptions, standards and requirements
- Support permitting, project phasing and quality control with infrastructure partners
- Develop a strong mental model for infrastructure unit cost metrics, working with infrastructure partners to minimize capex while meeting requirements
- Manage design integration and construction coordination of GEACS charging equipment with infrastructure partners
- Meet with local and regional stakeholders and regulators to build relationships and provide technical details for air taxi infrastructure
- Support Operational Readiness, Activation, and Transition (ORAT) activities for each new vertiport
Required
- University degree in aviation, planning, engineering, architecture or relevant discipline
- 8+ years of experience in relevant design, engineering or construction
- Solid grasp of the Florida ecosystem and experience working with Florida stakeholders
- Experience working through code requirements and regulator engagement to pull permits
- Strong work ethic and passion for innovation, with strong problem-solving skills using a first principles approach towards breaking down complex problems
- Hands-on technical design, engineering and/or construction experience
- Ability to think creatively to collaborate across disciplines and departments in solving novel problems where few existing precedents, standards or methodologies exist
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects, with the ability to pivot to meet the dynamic needs of the company
- Willingness to occasionally work during California business hours and travel domestically and internationally
Additional Information
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $135,000-$229,000/yr.The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
