About The RoleUber is looking for an expert Engineering Manager to lead a team within our Money Platform group. The Money org is focused on building best-in-class features and products for our users. You will influence and guide all phases of the product lifecycle: whether it’s building new services, and mobile features, or improving the platform. About The TeamWe develop foundational functionality and non-functional tooling (e.g., observability to report and discover availability, stability, and latency issues as well as report business metrics) to help other teams easily deliver end-user payment experiences in web and mobile platforms that are consistent, responsive, reliable, measurable, and highly customizable. We help our teams to launch and configure tens of payment method types in over 60 countries and across over 100 different user experiences. What You’ll Do
  • Directly own an engineering team passionate about delivering world-class experiences
  • Partner with engineering teams, help see opportunities, gather requirements, and build a technology roadmap for the team
  • Recruit, encourage, and grow impactful engineering teams
  • Mentor and support people in their career growth
  • Enable successful adoption of solutions delivered by the team and contribute to open source/industry-wide initiatives
  • Manage team’s upstream and downstream dependencies across offices
What You'll Need
  • Experience as a technical leader and (engineering) manager for at least 3 years
  • Significant experience in building and operating large-scale, critically important systems
  • People management and team development skills: Ability to set roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate thoughtfully, mentor engineers, deliver frequent and constructive feedback, help team members grow in their careers, and deliver results
  • Experience with platform teams management (ideally both on the web and mobile (iOS and Android). A team that ships libraries and frameworks for many other teams to use
  • Good experience with at least one of the main programming languages, such as Java, Go, Swift, Kotlin, Objective-C, Python, JavaScript, or similar
  • Written and verbal communication and collaboration skills to work with other engineering teams, product management, project management, and business to develop vision, plans, and roadmaps
  • Project management skills to plan and implement greenfield projects and migration and deprecation initiatives and keep the stakeholders updated on progress, risks, and changes
  • Multi-functional and cross-team collaboration and leadership: the ability to implement your own team’s roadmap by influencing other teams to collaborate on a shared vision
