About The RoleAs the overall product lead for Uber’s New Verticals Consumer Experience, you’ll play a key role in crafting a flawless experience that helps customers get anything they want from local merchants. Uber to date has successfully helped customers get restaurant food delivered to their doors. We are excited to bring that delight and convenience to virtually everything else. Today, we’re focused on the grocery, convenience, alcohol, and pharmacy sectors, but this team has broader ambitions to expand into plenty of other long-tail verticals in the future! In this role, you will be working with a broad set of cross-functional partners across operations, data science, design, engineering, marketing and more. What You'll Do This Is a Representative Sampling Of The Areas You Might Be Tackling Together With The Team You’re LeadingThe opportunities to evolve the consumer experience for new verticals are myriad and we are only just getting started. You will also be responsible for directly managing growth PMs and influencing the product roadmaps of many other teams that work in specialized consumer experiences.
  • Identify core barriers to new verticals trial among existing Eats users, and design experiences that help them overcome those
  • Successfully growth hack the Eats app to increase the number of users who are ordering non-food items on the platform
  • Think deeply and execute on top-of-funnel strategies that showcase Uber Eats as a destination for more than just restaurant food. This can include in/out of app communications, home page presence and ranking optimization, merchandising, promotions, and marketing tech enablement
  • Ensure high-quality traffic coming to the platform and own the thought leadership for retention and resurrections
  • Work with pre-existing consumer platform teams to optimize mid/bottom-of-funnel experiences specific to new verticals. For example, what should a high-converting digital grocery storefront look like? How do we ensure that customers can easily build large baskets of items every week? And so on.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years experience delivering successful and innovative products with your fingerprints all over them
  • Consumer growth experience. You would have directly worked on growing usage and engagement of a tech consumer product, ideally within a marketplace business. You are familiar with consumer funnel analysis, experiment design, marketing tech, CRM, and e-commerce conversion tactics
  • People management experience. You will be directly managing a small team of PMs and influencing several others who will look to you to set a consumer vision for new verticals
  • Technical savviness. Can manifest in different ways: a computer science undergraduate degree, hands-on software engineering experience, or experiences building complex software products side by side with engineers. Technical understanding must go from the highest abstractions down to the metal
  • Attention to detail. The ability to obsess over every single part of the retailing process
  • Customer obsession. The ability to take on complex product challenges and find elegant, simplifying solutions to avoid making them our user's and partner’s problems
  • Finger-tippiness with data. You find a way to get the data you need and whip it into an insightful story with no help. You know how to leverage this data to make decisions without getting stuck in analysis paralysis
  • A “Driver” mentality. You are biased toward action, a great collaborator, a master disambiguator/simplifier, and constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery
  • Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and tackle something hands-on
  • A high bar across the board — from your own contributions to the people you work with to the products you work on
  • A true passion for Uber’s mission, our products, and the company’s hybrid technology/operations nature
  • A never-ending desire to grow and learn
