Job Description

Savage X Fenty is currently looking for a Director of Fabric R&D

This position will report to the SVP, Product Creation

What you will do:

  • Drives newness and innovation creates and develop proprietary raw material sourcing and development in partnership with suppliers and vendors.
  • Work directly with Design, PD, Technical Design and Production to understand, interpret and execute key seasonal fabric developments that meet technical and aesthetic requirements and cost target. Provide technical expertise to design in all new raw material development.
  • Partner with Mills and Factory to resolve technical limitations of new raw materials and provide solutions to quality issues.
  • Collaborate with Design and Technical Design to source and develop innovative foam qualities for Pad Developments.
  • Meet key deadlines for fabric development and approval based on Global Brand Calendar
  • Ensure fabric approval, QA and documentation to all business partners to meet sampling and production deadlines.
  • Partner with mills and vendors to execute counter source fabric developments.
  • Travel to Fabric Shows, Mills and Vendors.
  • Manage and Develop Fabric developer for Trim and Components.
  • Build and manage raw materials library as resource for Design and PD.
  • Ensure the Product Line Management (PLM) database is consistently updated and accurate.

What you can bring:

  • BA or BS degree in Textiles Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10-15 years’ experience in Lingerie or performance industry. Knowledge of textile properties, testing, dyeing, finishing, manufacturing or other textile fundamentals.
  • Expertise in performance and lingerie fabric development and sourcing.
  • Knowledge of fabric construction standards and manufacturing methods, including bonding, molding and innovative construction techniques.
  • Established Relationship with Lingerie Mills and Vendors a must.
  • Working knowledge of QA process and ability to create a clear process through partnership with Mills and Vendors.
  • Knowledge of Print Techniques
  • Strong organizational skills. Ability to access information accurately and readily when needed.
  • Strong communication skills verbal and written - gives concise and focused information.
  • Excellent time management skills - ability to adhere to calendar deadlines and manage work flow accordingly.
  • Works both independently and cooperatively with a diverse group of people.
  • Team player - ability to negotiate and build consensus across multiple functions.
  • Proficient PC skills (spreadsheets, word processing) PLM data management systems is a plus.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $170,000 - $195,000. Offers to candidates are expected to fall within this range and will depend on the scope and complexity of the role, work experience, subject matter expertise, work location and other relevant factors.
