Who we are
At Omada.ai, we're redefining how small and mid-sized businesses create, launch, and scale their marketing, powered by AI.
Our platform blends human-centered design with intelligent automation, giving brands access to AI-driven creative agents that produce videos, graphics, campaigns, and insights in real time. Behind every one of those experiences is a system of agents, pipelines, and services that has to be fast, reliable, and able to scale.
If you're excited about designing the backbone of an AI-first product, this is where you'll want to be.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Engineer, AI Systems, who can turn complex, multi-step AI workflows into robust, scalable, and observable backend systems.
You'll own the architecture of the services that power Alpha and our AI marketing team: agent orchestration, tool and model harnesses, event-driven pipelines, and the APIs that stream results to our users. You'll work closely with product, frontend, and AI teams. This is a 0→1 environment: you'll shape the platform, the codebase, and the engineering practices from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of the Python services that power Omada's AI-driven marketing platform.
- Own backend system design, including service boundaries, data models, event flows, and failure handling that scale from prototype to production.
- Build and evolve the harnesses our AI agents run in: tool calling, orchestration, retries, guardrails, evaluation, and cost/latency controls.
- Design clean, well-versioned APIs across REST, Server-Sent Events, and WebSockets, including streaming model output to real-time frontends.
- Architect serverless and event-driven workflows on AWS using Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, SQS, and EventBridge.
- Build observability into everything: structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and alerting that let us see how agents and services behave in production.
- Design microservices that scale under bursty, long-running AI workloads, with idempotency, back-pressure, and graceful degradation built in.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, testing, and incident retrospectives to uphold high engineering standards.
- Stay ahead of emerging patterns in agent architectures, LLM tooling, and cloud infrastructure.
What we're really screening for
- Systems design & architecture
- You can design, and clearly articulate, a complex distributed system: service boundaries, data modeling, consistency trade-offs, failure modes, and scaling strategy. Expect to whiteboard this with us.
- AI tools & harnesses
- You've built production systems around LLMs, such as agent loops, tool-calling frameworks, orchestration layers, evaluation pipelines, or streaming inference. You understand what makes AI systems reliable, debuggable, and cost-efficient.
- Serverless & event-driven AWS
- You've shipped real systems on Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, SQS, and EventBridge, and you know their limits, pricing quirks, and failure behavior from experience, not documentation.
- Startup / 0→1 product building
- You've taken systems from nothing to shipped, navigating ambiguity, making pragmatic trade-offs, and moving fast without a big team or a finished spec behind you.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating production-grade backend systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python, including async programming, packaging, testing, and modern frameworks (FastAPI or similar).
- Required: hands-on, production experience with AWS Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, SQS, and EventBridge.
- Deep understanding of API design and real-time protocols: REST, SSE, and WebSockets, including when to use each.
- Proven experience designing for scalability, observability, and microservice architectures.
- Working knowledge of building AI tools, agents, or model harnesses using LLM APIs.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (CDK, Terraform, or SAM) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with observability tooling (CloudWatch, X-Ray, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or similar).
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Bonus Points
- Experience with agent frameworks, MCP, or building evaluation systems for LLM output.
- Experience with media processing pipelines (video, image, or audio generation).
- Open-source contributions, infrastructure side projects, or AI tooling experiments you're proud of.
What you'll love about working here
- Work on cutting-edge AI and creative technology used by thousands of SMBs.
- Own core architecture decisions that shape the platform for years.
- Freedom to experiment and ship fast in a startup environment that values creativity and impact.
- Competitive compensation, flexible remote work, and opportunities for rapid growth as we scale.
How to apply
Email careers@omada.ai with your resume, a short cover letter, and, most importantly, links to systems you've built. An architecture write-up, open-source repo, or side project that shows how you think about systems will get our attention faster than anything else.
