In this role, you’ll contribute to the development of our custom meta-optics—from early-stage prototyping all the way to mass production. This is an interdisciplinary position with strong emphasis on specification definition, technical definition and data analysis. You’ll play a leading role in project execution while also supporting and aligning activities across multiple technical teams to ensure smooth collaboration and delivery.

Tasks and responsibilities
- Technical driver of the opto-mechanical Design Process (DFM, FMEA) for both internal RnD as well as customer driven mass-production projects
- Creating all product related technical documentations and specifications (Technical drawings, specifications to suppliers & subcontractors, build reports)
- Anticipate and mitigate technical risks
- Technical interface between optical design, process-development, testing, reliability, etc.
- Drive failure and root-cause analysis, process improvements and contribute to standardization of internal procedures and templates
- Interact with suppliers and subcontractors to define requirements and specifications (wafers, materials, coatings, etc.)
- Provide regular updates & data analysis to customers as main technical interface
- Customer facing presentations
Skills, experiences and qualifications we are looking for
- Solid background in optics (imaging optics, VCSEL lasers, sensors) and materials
- Experience in product development and ramp-up for consumer electronics products
- Experience in product engineering is a strong plus
- Knowledge in mechanical design (DFM) & failure analysis (FMEA, Fishbone, DOE)
- AutoCAD, SolidWorks (or similar software) skills, JMP
- Customer-oriented mindset and with a sense of urgency
- MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Electronic Engineering or similar
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience
- Fluent in English (required), German is a strong plus
