Are you motivated by cutting‑edge nanofabrication and excited about pushing the limits of what optical components can do?

As a Nanooptics Mastering and Prototyping Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing world‑class masters and prototypes used in advanced optical applications across the globe. You will join a highly skilled team working in the DTU Nanolab national cleanroom, where you will help drive innovation, optimize fabrication processes, and ensure exceptional product quality.

At NILT, you will join a collaborative and international environment with close ties across our teams in Denmark and Switzerland. Our culture is shaped by curiosity, precision, teamwork, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement. We are an ambitious organization where we win and lose together, and team spirit and shared success are central to how we work every day.

Tasks and responsibilities

Endtoend fabrication of masters and prototypes

Manage the full cleanroom workflow—from lithography to etch and deposition—ensuring timely delivery, high yield, and worldclass quality.

Process development and optimization

Design and run experiments (DOEs), refine process windows, and introduce improvements that enhance stability, throughput, and performance.

Metrology, inspection, and data documentation

Perform SEM, AFM, ellipsometry, and optical inspections and deliver complete, traceable data packages that meet our internal quality standards.

Specification and capability definition

Use experimental insights to define process capabilities, establish specifications, and secure robust, repeatable production flows.

Crosscleanroom coordination and troubleshooting

Coordinate activities across lithography, etch, and deposition areas to reduce bottlenecks; review deviations and implement corrective/preventive actions.

Collaboration across Denmark and Switzerland

Work closely with colleagues across sites to synchronise process development efforts and support customerfacing project requirements.

Skills, experiences and qualifications we are looking for

  • MSc in engineering or applied sciences
  • (e.g., nanotechnology, physics, materials science, electrical engineering).
  • Several years of hands‑on cleanroom experience operating lithography, dry etching, and thin‑film deposition systems.
  • Strong proficiency in nanofabrication principles and the ability to navigate complex, multistep cleanroom flows.
  • Experience with SEM, AFM, ellipsometry, and optical inspection.
  • Solid data documentation and analysis skills, including ability to produce traceable process records.
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and visualization.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate clearly and transparently.

Questions You are welcome to reach out to hiring manager: Vladimir Miljkovic, Head of Mastering, vm@nilt.com

Interested?

Please forward your CV and application letter incl. answers to the 2 questions below, no later than

18 March 2026 . We look forward to hearing from you.

1. Key experience #1

Describe a process development or optimization challenge you have solved in the cleanroom. What was your approach, and what was the outcome?

2. Key experience #2

Provide an example of a situation where you managed a complex multistep process flow. How did you ensure efficiency and quality throughout?
