We are seeking a Data Center Instructor to help us meet market demands and train qualified data center technicians. You will work closely with the Director of Academic Excellence and Training Manager to ensure alignment and accountability with deadlines. This position will have a high degree of autonomy and will be responsible for both developing and delivering the course content in a remote (video) format.

The Data Center Instructor is a hands-on technical educator who thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and is passionate about preparing students for real-world data center and infrastructure roles. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A background in data center operations, network engineering, systems administration, cloud infrastructure, or related field
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or training technical concepts in a classroom, virtual, or lab-based environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex infrastructure concepts in a clear, approachable way
  • A passion for helping students break into or advance careers in data center, infrastructure, or IT operations roles
  • The ability to follow a structured curriculum while adapting explanations to different learning stylesA reliability-first mindset aligned with data center standards (uptime, safety, procedures, documentation)

JOB DUTIES

  • Deliver High-Quality Data Center Instruction
    • Facilitate live and/or virtual instruction covering data center fundamentals, including physical infrastructure, networking, servers, storage, power, cooling, and security.
  • Lead hands-on labs and walkthroughs that simulate real-world data center environments and workflows.
  • Clearly explain industry best practices, standard operating procedures, and safety protocols.Support Student Learning and Success
  • Answer student questions, provide clarification, and offer real-world context to technical concepts.
  • Assist students with lab troubleshooting, technical challenges, and concept reinforcement.Encourage consistent study habits and engagement aligned with program expectations.
  • Maintain Curriculum Alignment and Quality
  • Deliver curriculum as designed while providing feedback to the academic team on clarity, pacing, and effectiveness.
  • Identify areas where students struggle and suggest improvements to labs, explanations, or examples.
  • Stay current with evolving data center technologies and industry trends to ensure instruction remains relevant.
  • Foster a Professional, Job-Ready Mindset
  • Model professionalism, documentation discipline, and operational excellence expected in data center environments.
  • Help students understand career pathways, roles, and expectations within data centers and infrastructure teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience working in data center operations, infrastructure, networking, systems administration, or related technical roles
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
  • Data center hardware (servers, racks, cabling)
  • Networking fundamentals (switching, routing, physical connectivity)
  • Power, cooling, and physical infrastructure concepts
  • Linux or Windows server environments
  • Experience teaching, training, mentoring, or supporting learners in a technical capacity (formal or informal)
  • Strong computer skills and comfort using learning platforms, spreadsheets, and documentation tools
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, instructors, and internal teams
  • Industry certifications (or progress toward them) are a plus (e.g., Network+, CCNA, Linux+, data center–related certs)
  • Previous startup, remote instruction, or military experience is a plus but not required
