About the Role
Muon Space is seeking a Data Products Mission Manager to lead the end-to-end execution of satellite-derived data product missions. This role owns delivery of customer-facing data systems—spanning space-based data acquisition, cloud-based data pipelines, analytics platforms, and operational product performance—while maintaining full accountability for cost, schedule, technical performance, and customer success.
This position sits at the intersection of mission management, systems engineering, and data platform delivery. You will work across spacecraft engineering, payloads, ground systems, software, data engineering, science, product, and operations teams to ensure that mission objectives translate into reliable, scalable, and timely data products for government and commercial customers.
Key Responsibilities
Mission & Program Ownership:
- Own full lifecycle execution of data product missions
- Maintain accountability for cost, schedule, risk, and technical performance
Data Product & Platform Leadership:
- Drive delivery of end-to-end data systems
- Ensure timely, reliable, and high-quality data product delivery
Cross-Functional Technical Leadership:
- Partner with spacecraft, software, systems, and data teams
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary interface to customers
Portfolio Growth & Strategic Execution:
- Support portfolio growth and follow-on contract strategy
Team Leadership & Process Development:
- Build, mentor, and scale teams
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred)
- 8+ years in program/mission management
- 5+ years delivering data systems
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI
- Experience with satellite-based data acquisition
- Strong customer-facing leadership skills
- Located in commuting distance to a Muon SCIF location (currently Northern Virginia or Aurora, Colorado)
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Systems engineering experience
- Python and SQL knowledge
- Experience managing data engineering teams
- Active security clearance
