About the Role:
IPSY is seeking a strategic and execution-driven Director of Social Media to lead our owned channel strategy across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging platforms. This role will drive the next evolution of IPSY’s social presence—blending storytelling, education, and entertainment to fuel revenue growth, deepen community loyalty, and amplify the member experience. You’ll oversee a team of four and collaborate cross-functionally with Creative, Creator Partnerships, Growth, and Merchandising teams to ensure social is a powerful lever for acquisition, retention, and organic advocacy.
This position reports to the Sr. Director of Social and Creators and is based in from our Santa Monica studio in a hybrid onsite-remote format.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Strategic Leadership
- Continued evolution of IPSY’s social media strategy, positioning IPSY at the forefront of beauty and culture while directly contributing to revenue and member growth.
- Build platform-specific roadmaps with clear goals across awareness, engagement, conversion, and retention.
- Set and own performance metrics that connect social to business outcomes—driving traffic, conversion, engagement, and other key business metrics
Content & Channel Execution
- Oversee content strategy and execution across all owned channels, ensuring every asset supports both brand equity and business performance.
- Lead the development of high-performing social-first content that blends beauty education, entertainment, and UGC, including a strong emphasis on member
- moments, awareness-driven content, and creator collabs.
- Implement an always-on optimization process using data to inform creative, publishing cadence, and audience targeting.
Team & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Manage and mentor a high-performing team of 4, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and innovation.
- Partner with Creator Partnerships, Paid Media, Creative, and Brand Partnerships to ensure social initiatives ladder into broader growth and lifecycle efforts.
- Serve as the connective tissue between brand and performance—translating social storytelling into scalable, conversion-driving moments.
Community & Innovation
- Lead IPSY’s community engagement strategy, ensuring we’re not just talking at our audience but building with them—amplifying real members and encouraging advocacy.
- Stay ahead of platform updates and social trends, ensuring IPSY remains a trendsetter in the beauty space.
- Identify and pilot new formats, platforms, and partnership opportunities to continuously expand reach and relevance.
What We Are Looking For:
- 8+ years of experience in social media marketing, with 3+ years leading a team of at least 3+ direct reports, ideally within beauty, subscription, or consumer lifestyle brands.
- Proven experience managing (brand) social accounts with over 1M followers.
- Deep understanding of how social drives the entire marketing funnel, and how to translate content into measurable results across multiple owned channels at the scale and pace of IPSY.
- Proven experience leading high-performing teams, managing cross-functional partnerships, and driving initiatives from concept to execution.
- Insightful, data-driven, and creative—you bring equal parts analytical thinking and brand-building instincts to drive data-driven strategy, with examples (at scale) to prove it.
- Passionate about beauty and obsessed with social trends, platform evolution, and the voice of the community.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (and experience reporting / presenting to SLT).
Bonus if You Have:
- Experience in creating content strategy and plans that have successfully delivered regular viral content for a brand.
- Passion for social media, new trends, and emerging platforms.
- E-commerce subscription experience / Digitally native brand experience.
- Experience managing multiple brands simultaneously
