About the role

We are seeking a Lab Automation Engineer to build our high-throughput assays to collect fit-for-purpose data for ML training. The ideal candidate will have experience in working at fast-paced startups in techbio, a strong background in lab automation, and expertise in data gathering for machine learning training. This role is critical to advancing our high-throughput data gathering efforts and ensure the seamless integration of data collection between our tech and science teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automated workflows and systems to streamline laboratory operations.

• Integrate and optimize robotic platforms, liquid handling systems, and other automation technologies to enhance efficiency and fit-for-purpose data collection.

• Collaborate with both our science and ML teams to identify and address automation and data needs and challenges. Build independently in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Develop and maintain robust data collection protocols to support machine learning model training for our work in proteomics.

• Contribute to the development and validation of new assays and protocols. Monitor and optimize the data quality.

• Provide training and support to team members on the use of automated systems and prepare technical documentation.

• Stay current on the latest technologies and assess scientific and technical needs and risks.

Qualifications

• PhD degree in Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Robotics, CS or a related technical field.

• Demonstrated industry experience building lab automation and high-throughput assays.

• Solid foundations of biochemistry, molecular biology, and cellular biology.

• Creative problem-solver who loves undertaking hard technical challenges with no clear answers.

• Experience with liquid handlers, automated plate washers, dispensers, or other automated lab systems.

• Experience with data gathering, preprocessing, and management for machine learning applications.

• Experience in Python, R, Bash/Shell, SQL or similar.

• Knowledge of proteomics techniques and data analysis is a plus.

• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (GCP) and LIMS integration is a plus.
