About Us

Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following the close of a $200M Series B, valuing the company at $1.4 billion, we are expanding our teams and capabilities to deliver mission-critical systems to allied forces.

Our work is guided by clear values: building technologies with real-world impact, pursuing excellence in everything we do, setting ambitious goals, and taking on the hardest technical challenges. We operate in a demanding environment where rigor, ownership, and execution are expected.

About the Role

As Harmattan AI scales we need a dedicated owner to run civil compliance and certification campaigns end-to-end across our drone hardware portfolio. This is the single point of accountability for "can we legally ship this product in this market" - and the person who will build and lead the Certification function as the portfolio grows.

Responsibilities

  • Own the consumer electronics and radio product compliance and certification roadmap end-to-end across the HAI hardware portfolio

  • Regulatory scoping: determine which directives, standards, and authorities apply per product variant and per target market

  • Plan, select, and manage accredited test labs and notified bodies

  • Author and own evidence packages and technical files, and sign off on Declarations of Conformity

  • Run ongoing surveillance and change-impact assessments across the portfolio

  • Flag compliance issues early in design reviews and escalate risks before they become blockers

  • Partner daily with multiple stakeholders and hand over the certified design for conformity in manufacturing

Candidate Requirements

  • 8+ years in product compliance and certification at a hardware scale-up, ideally with exposure to defense, aerospace, or UAS programmes.

  • Hands-on experience with the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), EMC Directive, Low Voltage Directive, and Machinery Directive and their harmonised standards.

  • Proven track record of managing accredited-lab and notified-body relationships directly.

  • Strong technical writer.

  • Programme-management mindset: able to track dozens of parallel work streams, predict where each will land, and prevent issues.

  • Demonstrable experience shipping 2 to 3 multi-radio hardware products through full certification.

  • Fluency in English and French.

  • Defense airworthiness exposure is a plus, with room to grow as the roadmap develops.

We look forward to hearing how you can help shape the future of autonomous defense systems at Harmattan AI.
