About the Role

This role is created to own and scale Harmattan AI's core infrastructure as we grow at pace. The Senior System & Network Administrator will take full technical ownership of our on-prem and cloud systems, ensuring high availability, resilience, and security across all layers of the infrastructure.

We are a small but highly capable IT team, and we work that way by design. Beyond your core responsibilities, there will be no shortage of challenging and interesting projects to get involved in — from security initiatives to tooling improvements and cross-functional IT projects. As the company scales, so will the complexity and scope of the infrastructure, and with it, your opportunity to grow into a lead or architect role. We are looking for someone who operates autonomously, makes decisions with confidence, and is genuinely excited to contribute beyond their defined perimeter.

The role includes on-call duties shared across the IT team to ensure continuity of critical services.

Server & Systems Administration

• Administer and maintain Linux and Windows servers across our on-prem and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments

• Define and enforce update and patching policies across all systems

• Monitor system health, performance, and availability; respond to incidents proactively

• Manage virtualization environments and storage infrastructure

Backup & Business Continuity

• Design, implement, and regularly test backup and disaster recovery policies

• Ensure data integrity and define recovery time and point objectives (RTO/RPO)

• Document and maintain business continuity procedures

Network Administration

• Configure and maintain network equipment (switches, firewalls, routers, VPN)

• Manage network segmentation, VLANs, and access control policies

• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues

• Oversee Wi-Fi infrastructure across company sites

Cloud & Automation

• Administer and optimize our Google Cloud Platform environment

• Contribute to infrastructure-as-code practices (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent)

• Automate repetitive operational tasks to improve team efficiency and reliability

• Participate in cloud cost optimization efforts

Documentation & Projects

• Write and maintain clear technical documentation, runbooks, and architecture diagrams in Confluence

• Lead or contribute to infrastructure improvement projects

Act as a technical escalation point for the L1/L2 support team

Candidate Requirements

• Experience: Around 5 years of experience in system and/or network administration, with demonstrated ownership of production environments

• Systems: Strong command of Linux server administration; Windows Server experience is a plus. Familiarity with macOS endpoints in a managed fleet context

• Networking: Solid expertise in network configuration and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, VPN)

• Autonomy: Proven ability to operate independently, prioritize without close supervision, and drive projects to completion

• Cloud & Automation: Experience with GCP is a strong plus; familiarity with infrastructure-as-code or scripting (Python, Bash) is appreciated

• Adaptability: Comfortable in a fast-scaling environment and willing to contribute across topics beyond core system and network administration

• Communication: Strong written and spoken English is required — we are an international company and English is our working language. French is a plus

• On-call: Availability to participate in a shared on-call rotation (astreintes) as part of the team
