About Us
Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following the close of a $200M Series B, valuing the company at $1.4 billion, we are expanding our teams and capabilities to deliver mission-critical systems to allied forces.
Our work is guided by clear values: building technologies with real-world impact, pursuing excellence in everything we do, setting ambitious goals, and taking on the hardest technical challenges. We operate in a demanding environment where rigor, ownership, and execution are expected.
About the Role
As a Propulsion Technician within the Propulsion team, you will play a critical role in accelerating our development cycle by taking ownership of our state-of-the-art motor testbench platform. You will work in close contact with propulsion engineers to alleviate their testing workload, ensuring that our motors and propellers meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. This is a hands-on role where your diligence in testing and organisation of hardware inventory will directly impact the flight capabilities of our autonomous systems.
Responsibilities
Test Execution: Conduct comprehensive test campaigns for motors and propellers using internal propulsion team tools.
Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and repeatability of all test results; identify anomalies or resonant frequencies and collaborate with engineers to find root causes.
Inventory Management: Responsible for the management and labeling of testing equipment, including motors, propellers, and stators.
Process Optimization: Maintain and implement improvements in test methodologies to increase efficiency and data quality.
Safety & Maintenance: Follow strict safety precautions when operating high-power propulsion systems (>1kW) and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
-
Reporting: Generate technical graphs and detailed reports based on gathered data for review by the broader engineering team.
Candidate Requirements
Experience & Skills: Prior experience in a testing or UAV environment is preferred, with a strong foundation in propulsion physics or electric propulsion systems.
Manual Dexterity: Excellent manual skills for assembling, mounting, and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment.
Attention to Detail: High level of diligence and precision; able to follow repetitive procedures without compromising consistency.
Critical Thinking: Ability to maintain "lucid thinking" in high-pressure or emergency situations and proactively investigate unexpected results.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in environments with loud noises and high-power electrical systems.
Communication: Effective at discussing technical findings with engineers and participating in meetings regarding new product development.
Technical Tools (Nice to Have): Basic Python programming skills to interact with internal data tools.
We look forward to hearing how you can help shape the future of autonomous defense systems at Harmattan AI.
