About the Role

The HSE & Facility Lead is the operational owner of health, safety, environmental compliance, and facility operations across Harmattan AI’s industrial footprint.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role, embedded in factory start-up, installations, and daily operations. The position carries end-to-end accountability for:

• Site safety readiness

• Regulatory compliance

• Facility functionality and services

The role covers two environments:

• Wissous manufacturing site (serial production)

• Paris industrialisation site (engineering, testing, small-batch production)

The HSE & Facility Lead reports to the Plant Manager and has full authority to intervene, decide, and stop activities where safety, compliance, or facility integrity is at risk.

Responsibilities

HSE – Operational Ownership

• Own safety and environmental readiness for production launch, ramp-up, and steady-state operations.

• Lead on-site safety for machinery, installations, contractors, and production workflows.

• Conduct risk assessments, machine safety validation, and hazard mitigation directly on the shopfloor.

• Establish and enforce EHS standards across production, industrialisation, and test activities.

• Define and operate incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action processes.

• Ensure compliance with applicable French and international EHS regulations relevant to defence and high-tech manufacturing.

Facility & Site Operations

• Own facility readiness for industrial operations (layout, access, utilities, services).

• Coordinate site services including maintenance, waste management, and safety infrastructure.

• Oversee contractor activities related to installations, maintenance, and site modifications.

• Ensure physical site organisation supports safe and efficient production flow.

• Maintain facility documentation, permits, and compliance records.

Cross-Functional Integration

• Work closely with Plant Management, Operations, Engineering, and Facilities.

• Embed safety and facility requirements into layouts, equipment selection, and process design.

• Track and report safety, environmental, and facility KPIs to the Plant Manager.

This role is about operational control and accountability, not audits from the sidelines.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience owning HSE and/or facility operations in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

• Strong hands-on exposure to factories, production lines, or industrial installations.

• Solid knowledge of French HSE regulations; defence, aerospace, electronics, or high-tech manufacturing experience is a strong advantage.

• Comfortable making on-the-spot decisions in fast-moving, high-pressure environments.

• Pragmatic, structured, and credible on the shopfloor.

• Adaptability & Mobility: Thrives under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; embraces a “no-task-is-too-small” mentality.

• Communication & Influence: Excellent written and verbal communication in English, fluency in French is a very strong asset. Capable of leading diverse principals – able to operate seamlessly between technicians, engineers, contractors, and leadership
