Team Overview

Being part of the Localization team will give you the unique opportunity to help drive growth in one of the fastest growing companies ever. This Language Specialist role calls for a rare combination of consumer-inspired, analytical-thinking, and interpersonal ability. You will have the opportunity to work in a tight team, where you will be a key part of launching, building and running DiDi's business in Latin America. Language Specialist is the bridge between the HQ Internationalization-Localization team and local stakeholders, such as Marketing, PR, Legal, Product, among others. From early language planning to proofreading, the role supports the language technical execution and quality monitoring of the company throughout multiple strategies. Localization works on translating launches and adjusting the wordings to each market needs to ensure our teams can maximize their results. The ideal candidate is motivated by bringing products and technologies to market and to our users, has strong analytical skills, and excellent time-management.


You will be constantly seeking scalable solutions, while overseeing the localization of our business. Your processes and projects will directly contribute to DiDi growth in LATAM!


Role Responsibilities

Your responsibilities:




  • To voice local market’s requirements to international stakeholders: You will timely communicate relevant team members about the changes in LatAm (especially Argentina) in relation to market, regulations, and other political scenarios that could impact our business.




  • To ensure cross-collaboration: It will be of great importance for you to work closely with local and international teams to deliver wordings that truly reflect DiDi’s voice and tone.




  • To balance attention to detail with swift execution: You will be the eyes of our user, and will strive for app’s excellence regarding proper terminology and general language quality. We need to do things quickly, and we need to do them w1ell. Balancing those can be challenging, but this should be our strength.




  • To be data-driven in your language decision-making: You need to be able to back up your decisions with extensive knowledge of source and target languages.




  • To have curiosity as your daily motto: Deep understanding of the business and product features are ESSENTIAL to provide meaningful and intuitive communications to our users. We love people who ask questions and are eager to learn.




Role Qualifications

The successful applicant:




  • A student of Translation, Foreign Languages, Linguistics, Copy-writing, or related language degrees.




  • High proficiency in English and Argentinean Spanish (reading, writing, listening and speaking); more languages is desirable.




  • Knowledge and interest in CAT Tools and term base management (Phrase, Trados, Wordfast, etc.)




  • Exercising good judgment in ambiguous circumstances, and effectively communicating across a diverse team.




  • Strong Microsoft Word and/or Google Docs skills are a must; other language/text tools experience is helpful. Comfortable with learning and using new software tools.




  • Proven to be self-motivated, self-directed, and eager to take ownership of tasks to ensure solutions.




  • Excellent organization and time management systems for yourself.




  • Clear and concise communicator with the ability to synthesize a lot of information quickly and highlight the key insights.




  • Desire to understand technology and to work well with other teams.




  • Stakeholder management: Create processes to have optimal communication with all stakeholders, follow-up on the projects, and deliver results.




  • Creative: Use creative approaches to solve problems and apply data-driven thinking to back those ideas.




  • Rapid learner with immediate impact: Although business understanding is not a must, we need people that prove that the impact on the business will be immediate and that they will not require an excessive time to understand how to deliver stakeholder value.




  • Structured ideas: Understand how to position ideas to be appealing to users.




  • Value simplicity: Do not make users overthink!
