We are seeking a strategic and business-oriented Legal Manager to serve as a key legal partner to our Financial Services team in Mexico. This role will be responsible for advising on complex regulatory and transactional matters, supporting DiDi’s financial services growth, and ensuring compliance with applicable legal frameworks. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, local leadership, and external counsel to structure and execute high-impact financial services initiatives. You will be based in Mexico City and will report to the Financial Services Legal Director.
Role Responsibilities
Act as regulatory and legal advisor to DiDi’s Financial Services team in Mexico, aligning legal strategy with business goals.
- Provide practical and solution-oriented advice on regulatory matters affecting payments, credit, insurance, and other financial services.
- Advise product, business, and technology teams on the regulatory design and launch of new financial products and services, ensuring compliance with applicable financial regulations.
- Conduct regulatory assessments of new initiatives, products, and partnerships, identifying legal risks and proposing compliant structures aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Monitor and analyze regulatory developments and proposed regulatory reforms affecting the financial sector, preparing internal impact assessments and recommendations for implementation.
- Lead the preparation, review, and negotiation of a broad range of legal documents, including financial product agreements, service contracts, and strategic partnerships, where DiDi may act as service provider or recipient.
- Manage legal negotiations with counterparties, in coordination with internal stakeholders and under the guidance of senior management.
- Oversee regulatory filings and authorization processes before financial regulators (including CNBV, Banxico, and Condusef), ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Support regulatory strategy and engagement with financial authorities and industry associations, contributing to consultations, regulatory comments, and policy discussions.
- Ensure compliance with ongoing regulatory reporting and operational requirements applicable to financial entities.
- Coordinate and supervise external legal counsel, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality legal support.
- Collaborate closely with compliance, risk, and internal audit teams to ensure alignment between regulatory strategy, internal governance, and business operations.
Role Qualifications

5+ years of legal experience, with a strong focus on Banking & Finance Law.

Proven legal practice in the financial services sector is essential; experience in project finance related projects is a plus.

In-depth knowledge of financial regulations in Mexico, including familiarity with CNBV, CONDUSEF and Banxico standards.

Solid background in anti-money laundering (AML) regulatory frameworks is advantageous.

Law degree from a reputable Mexican university with strong academic credentials.

Excellent business and legal judgment, with a strategic and pragmatic mindset.

Ability to communicate effectively in a culturally diverse, fast-paced, and change-oriented environment.

Strong interpersonal and influencing skills; capable of collaborating with high-performance cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive attitude: resilient, adaptable, self-motivated, and capable of delivering under pressure.

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Portuguese and/or Chinese is a plus.
