#LI-HybridTeam Overview
We are looking for a data-driven Finance Business Partner to act as the financial navigator for our Marketing department. This is not a back-office accounting role; it is a strategic partnership position. You will embed yourself within the marketing teams to understand their workflows, monitor expenditure with granular detail, and ensure every dollar spent aligns with our strategic goals.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and unafraid to ask the hard questions. You will be expected to build strong relationships with marketers while maintaining the independence to challenge campaign proposals, flag risks, and ensure financial discipline.
Role Responsibilities
1. Strategic Partnership & Control
● Routine Engagement: Establish a structured communication routine with key marketing stakeholders. Attend marketing planning meetings to understand the "how" and "why" behind upcoming campaigns.
● Campaign Evaluation: Review campaign proposals and business cases prior to approval. act as a "Critical Friend"—challenging assumptions, vetting ROI projections, and flagging potential risks or insufficiencies in the plan.
● Workflow Integration: Deeply understand the marketing workflow (from creative brief to vendor payment) to identify bottlenecks or areas for cost optimization.
2. Financial Analysis & Reporting
● Expense Monitoring: Track marketing expenditure at a granular level (by campaign, channel, vendor, and category). Ensure data integrity and correct cost allocation.
● Forecasting & Budgeting: Lead the monthly rolling forecast for the marketing department. Work with budget holders to update spend projections based on actual campaign performance and changing strategies.
● Variance Analysis: Perform rigorous monthly variance analysis (Actuals vs. Budget vs. Forecast). Investigate discrepancies and provide clear explanations for over/under-spending.
● Executive Reporting: Synthesize complex financial data into concise Executive Summaries. Highlight key performance indicators (CAC, ROAS, ROI) and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
3. Process Improvement
● Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes.
● Enforce procurement policies and ensure marketing vendors are managed efficiently.
Role Qualifications
● Data-Driven: You make decisions based on numbers, not gut feelings. You are comfortable manipulating large datasets to find the "truth" behind the spend.
● Constructively Skeptical: You are willing to challenge the status quo. You are comfortable saying "no" or "prove it" when a campaign proposal lacks financial merit, regardless of the stakeholder's seniority.
● Detail-Oriented: You spot the error in row 450 of the spreadsheet. You care about accurate categorization.
● Strong Communicator: You can explain complex financial variances to non-finance creative teams clearly and persuasively.
● Experience: 4-5 years of experience in FP&A, Commercial Finance, or a Business Partnering role. Experience supporting Marketing or Sales teams is highly preferred.
● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Data Science.
● Technical Skills:
○ Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot tables, Index/Match, complex modeling) is non-negotiable.
○ Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
○ Familiarity with Data Visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI) is a plus.
● Soft Skills: Ability to work under pressure, manage strict deadlines during month-end close, and maintain professional skepticism.
