We are looking for an experienced Billing Specialist with at least 3 years of experience working in a high volume billing team and significant knowledge and insight into the coding and billing process. The ideal candidate will have behavioral health and/or value based reimbursement experience and a familiarity / comfort with technology. This role will be reporting directly to the Revenue Cycle Manager.
What you’ll be doing as Billing Specialist:
  • Collaborates with product, engineering, and operations on an ongoing basis to ensure that the Brightside system correctly completes eligibility verification and claim submission
  • Monitors all claims to ensure clean submission and timely payment
  • Reports payor and denial trends to Billing Manager in timely manner
  • Accurately documents patient accounts to reflect all actions taken, or status of follow up, in billing system
  • Assists in error resolution, resubmits insurance claims that have received no response or are not on file.
  • Follows up on denials and/or unpaid or improperly paid claims
  • Post payments timely on the database, update account statements, generate financial reports, release invoices, and resolve account discrepancies.
  • Reviews and monitors select accounts within the accounts receivable system, determines and performs appropriate collection actions to resolve accounts.
  • Participates in problem solving, formulating solutions and implementing them into daily processes.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years previous experience in medical billing, current A/R & experience in patient services a plus.
  • Prior experience working Medicare, Medicaid, other government payers and commercial insurance.
  • 2-3 year experience in medical billing payment posting, with strong working knowledge of cash posting and understanding and interpreting EOBs from payors
  • Expertise in billing and coding requirements and processes
  • Experience in behavioral health billing
  • Interest in establishing high volume, high performance billing operations enabled by technology and great people
  • A self-motivated doer, a meticulous executor, a great collaborator, a strong communicator, and a results oriented leader.
  • Comfort working in a flexible, fast paced work environment
