We are looking for an experienced Staff Platform Engineer to join our Data team. As a Staff Platform Engineer, you will be a technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the core infrastructure and platform that supports our mission-critical applications and services. You will work across cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and Site Reliability Engineering principles to ensure our platform is highly available, scalable, and secure. This person will report to the Manager, Data Engineering.
What you’ll be doing as Staff Platform Engineer:

Cloud Technologies:
Architect and manage our multi-cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP
Design and implement cloud-native services and serverless technologies
Automate cloud resource provisioning and configuration using Terraform
Optimize cloud resource utilization and cost efficiency

DevOps Practices:
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for our Ruby on Rails application
Develop and document standard operating procedures for platform management
Collaborate with engineering teams to adopt DevOps principles and tooling
Monitor and analyze platform metrics to identify and resolve issues proactively using DataDog

Site Reliability Engineering:
Apply SRE principles to ensure high availability, scalability, and resiliency of our services
Implement and maintain robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes using DataDog
Perform security scanning and detecting threats and application vulnerabilities
Contribute to the development of self-healing and auto-scaling capabilities of our GKE cluster
Requirements:
8+ years of experience in a platform engineering or DevOps engineering role
Extensive knowledge of cloud computing platforms and services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)
Experience working with version control software and the CI/CD tooling (Git, GitHub Actions)
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, or Bash
Strong command of the *NIX systems and bash scripting
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in building up teams from the ground up
Familiarity with site reliability engineering principles and practices
Knowledge of security best practices for cloud environments
Experience with incident management and post-mortem analysis
Familiarity with distributed systems architecture and design patterns
Experience with Ruby on Rails, GitHub Actions, FluxCD, and Kubernetes
