Mission: Essence of the Job

As a Senior Event Manager at BoomPop, your mission is two-fold: (1) people management & (2) event planning.

People Management: You will manage a team of up to 7 Event Planners. You will help onboard & train the team. You will sit on the Events Department Leadership Team and contribute to larger business initiatives & projects. You will ensure that your Event Planner team is successful.

Event Planning: You will plan, coordinate, and execute a diverse range of events with exceptional customer service, unwavering adaptability to changing client needs, and a strong focus on meeting or exceeding booking and margin goals. You will play a crucial role in creating memorable experiences that showcase our products and services while contributing to the overall growth and success of our startup.

You have 7 years of experience with Event Planning. You bring your expertise to help the team make our processes and product better. You are excited to disrupt the travel and events industry. You are exceptional at handling large volumes of high-value clients.

Top 3 Priorities

  1. Meet and exceed NPS, Net Revenue, and Gross Margin targets
  2. Improve team processes and efficiencies through leadership initiatives
  3. Build a motivated, high-performing team that meets goals and supports business objectives

Within 30 days:

  • You will have familiarized yourself with event planning at BoomPop by learning the BoomPop product and SOPs.
  • You will be fully onboarded and planning active events.
  • You’ll manage a team of 4 planners, supporting them and their clients, and will begin contributing to the Events Leadership team.

Within 60 days:

  • You will provide product feedback and help with projects to streamline the event planning process.
  • You’ll also have a full understanding of “The BoomPop Way” and have received positive feedback from your team and clients.

Within 90 days:

  • Uou will become a trusted and reliable manager for the events team and build strong relationships with BoomPop co-workers.
  • You’ll also begin to own projects that will contribute to elevating the events team and events process.

What you'll do

  • Team Management
    • Manage a team of Event Planners.
    • Empower your team to do their best work. We are not micro-managers. We encourage the team to take autonomy and solve their own problems. 💪
    • Maintain a high-level business understanding while diving into the weeds and details as needed, as the team grows.
    • Mentor and up-level the team so they feel more comfortable and qualified to take on bigger and more complex events
    • We don’t ask anything of the team that we don’t do ourselves. We hold ourselves to the highest standard, so that we are role models to our teams. Hashtag servant leadership.
  • Project Management
    • Plan and execute 4-8 events at a time, ensuring flawless coordination and client satisfaction.
    • Develop detailed event plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
    • Source and negotiate with vendors, venues, and suppliers to meet event requirements and budget constraints.
  • Customer Obsession & Communication
    • Demonstrate exceptional customer obsession by consistently meeting or exceeding client expectations.
    • Adapt to changing client requests with a positive attitude and a focus on finding solutions.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring clear communication and satisfaction throughout the event planning process.
    • Handle and escalate customer issues as your own.
    • Proactively communicate with your customers.
  • Contribute to the Top & Bottom Line
    • Own the reconciling and closing of each event within 14 days.
    • Meet or exceed booking goals and margin goals for your event, including upselling clients.
    • Ensure customer success and renewals.
  • Understand & improve Product & Processes
    • Understand and follow the SOPs. Seek to improve the SOPs.
    • Recognize the larger picture: Building a scalable tech company. Give feedback on how to improve the product.
    • There is no I in TEAM.


Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2+ years of people management experience
  • A minimum of 7+ years of event planning experience
  • A minimum of 7+ years of client servicing experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to quickly learn and use BoomPop’s event planning platform.
  • Desire to work at a startup! Comfort working in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the year for onsite event execution, client meetings, and team collaboration.

Occasional Travel: Connecting is in our DNA, please note that we anticipate roughly 6-8 nights of travel per quarter for this role.

Total Compensation Package; Including Benefits and Stock:

  • Base: $95,000 - $137,000 a year; Depending on Experience and Qualifications
  • Bonus: $15,000 a year; Depending on business and personal milestones achieved
  • Medical, vision, dental, life: $10,000 - $16,000 a year; Depending on Individual or Family Plan
