About BoomPop, Inc.

Who we are.
BoomPop is on a mission to bring people together. We make it easy for you to have fun and connect on a human level with the people you work with, no matter where you are.
We launched with amazing virtual events and quickly expanded to IRL (think: offsites, retreats, client summits, annual kickoffs) as well as a single platform that makes it easy for any company to manage everything in one place. Although we’re barely over 3 years old, we have over 6,000 clients (Google, Apple, Netflix, Nike, Accenture) and have brought over 300,000 people together so far. And we’re just getting started.
Umm… corporate events?
Oh, YES, corporate events. We, as humans, spend ⅓ of our time working. And ⅓ asleep. The majority of our life is spent with people at work! The tectonic shift that is remote work has left 57% of office space vacant (yeah…$1.7T of annual spend: poof), and companies such as Airbnb, Salesforce, Shopify, and Reddit are all adopting the new mantra: “Offsites are the new office.” Companies around the world need help bringing their teams together, and our goal is to make planning a company kickoff, client summit, or retreat as easy as buying products on Amazon. Watch. Us. Do. It. (Or actually, come help.)
Group travel pre-pandemic was already 40% of the $800B corporate travel industry, and it’s absolutely exploding as companies shift facilities spending to IRL events. (by the way, 73% of clients are managers planning events for the first time in their careers … shouldn’t be their job.)

About the role

We are searching for an HR Manager to serve as a critical member of the BoomPop team, overseeing all aspects of people operations, team culture, and recruiting.

The ideal candidate will internalize BoomPop’s unique brand strength and help us double down on our incredibly fun, unique, and high-performing team culture. The role will begin as a team of one, but we look for you to establish best practices and help build the function as we scale. You’ll manage the HRIS, onboarding/offboarding, coordinating recruiting, team culture initiatives, and more.

What you'll do

  • Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, particularly concerning current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.

  • Provide support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances, such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.

  • Manage the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial and professional roles; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.

  • Create learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommend best practices.

  • Own maintenance and communication of internal employment policies and resources.

  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  • Manage, maintain, and update the HRIS, 401(k), and sexual harassment training systems, ensuring accurate employee information.

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for employees and contractors across numerous states, ensuring accuracy and reflecting any employee changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

  • A minimum of 5+ years of human resource management experience is preferred.

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP are highly desired.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.

  • Experience with multi-state payroll to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.

BoomPop is looking for someone:
  • Who is excited to help lead a business with an aggressive growth trajectory, and creatively problem solve as that growth requires.

  • Who quickly grasps the big picture, yet also has an ability to be hands-on and operate in details.

  • With a personal interest in redefining office culture and collaboration in a highly remote world.

  • With proven experience managing the tension between cash, revenue growth, and profitability.

  • Who is digitally savvy with proof of having helped lead a high-growth business and operated at scale.

  • Who is a strategic thinker with proven capacity to leverage team members and cross-functional expertise to maximize results.

  • Who has experience managing and inspiring teams.

  • With confidence and strength, not ego.
